Relief For Ondo 2024 Flood Victims

In our task of ensuring that people have access to care and succour when disasters struck, the Arise Youth Network for Total; though funding support from the Baptist World Aid, presented relief material and grant support for hundreds of victims of the flood disasters that rock Ondo Town in Ondo State Nigeria.

The first phase of the project which focus on the distribution of relief materials was carried on February 6th, 2025. It had in attendance the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and other apex leaders of the mother body of the NGO as well as representatives of the Baptist World Aid, Rev Iyanuoluwa Durogbola. The community leaders were also present to show their support. Testimonies from the beneficiaries indicate the impact the gesture will have on them with many recounting how many organisations and government officials have collected their name without providing any support. They praised the organisation for keeping to heir words even after collecting their details thorough a need assessment that was carried out in December 2024.

The second phase of the project will begin in June to August 2025 with a community sensitisation on prevention of flood disasters.

Ondo Communities Sensitised On Flood Prevention

July 4, 2025, was all about equipping and empowering flood prone communities in Ondo town with needed information and activities to prevent occurrence of the devastating flood of 2024. The programme organised by Arise Youth Network for Total Impact with funding support from Baptist World Aid had in attendance community representative, the Paramount Rule of Ondo Town, The Ondo West Local Government chairman, and Ondo East as well as youth leaders and beneficiaries of the relief material distributed in February 2025.

The occasion was used to share with them the methods and strategies they can sue to prevent such disasters from gave such a negative and devastating impact in their lives.

A Community Flood Prevention manual was produce and shared with all those who came for the programme. They were saddled with the responsibilities of spread the message to the neighbours and the community at large. A community Emergency Response Team is to be inaugurated at a later date to sever as community mobilisers ensuring that activities that could lead to flood disaster are limited and curb in the town.

Trainings

A 2-week virtual training on proposal writing and Social Enterprise was organized by the organization for young people. Over 100 youth participated in the training. A certificate of participation were issued to participants. The participants were also urged and encouraged to write a social enterprise proposal and sent to the organization for vetting and needed assistance.

Africa Social Impact Summit

The organization was well represented at the Annual Sterling One Foundation/United nations Africa Social Impact Summit where experts, government officials, local and international organizations meet up to proffer ways of working together for sustainable development practices. It was an opportunity for networking, collaborating and connecting with likeminded organization to strengthen the work that organization in the development sector are engaged in.

MTN Anti-Social Substance Abuse Campaign

In June 2025, we attended the Annual MTN Anti-Substance Abuse Campaign held in Lagos which was targeted at addressing the menace of substance abuse affecting young people today. The programme had in attend public officer, NDLEA officer major stakeholders in the health and education sector as well as organization promoting anti-substance abuse. We are able to connect with organization and institution working in these areas.

In 2023, one of the largest gathering of young people in Nigeria took place with so much engagement and activities that left an indelible impact in the lives of al, those who showed up.

Here we are in 2025 for another edition coming up from 3rd to 6th, September 2025. This year’s edition is going to be more loaded and more impacting than 2023. The roll call of speakers include Fela Durotoye, Pastor Nike Adeyemi, Bishop David Abioye. It will feature many practical and youth empowerment session like the Career Fair where we going to connect unemployed youth with needed skills with corporate organizations. There is also going to be an entrepreneurship competition where young people with sustainable and scalable Social enterprise Business ideas will be funded with start-up grant.
